Character Profile
Personality
(+)Amiable | Ambitious | Efficient | Thinks before he speaks
(-)Awkward | Shy | Bases ego/pride on accomplishments | Not well-versed in City manners
Raised in a small and suburban town in Kansai, Shuuya is generally friendly to all people and polite when speaking to elders. He finds talking to people for official business easier than having personal conversations with people because of the emotional distance needed for work. Outside of business manners, he is awkward and finds it difficult to approach people for small talk. With people he is comfortable with he enjoys having conversations about the future and making small jokes.
When working Shuuya is a go-getter, he is a quick thinker that aims to solve any problem or task in the most efficient way possible. He is quite ambitious and often seeks to go beyond what is needed, as he seeks to please (and to receive praise). Although his talent for speedy solutions is admirable, the constant praise he has received in the past for it has made him rather prideful. When he sees that there are people better than him he becomes rather jealous and questions his self-worth as a result of him basing his ego on his talent.
Shuuya has also learned by trial and error that acting in a confident and suave manner can sometimes help him in convincing other people. However this demeanor is strictly kept to business exchanges, as he cannot imagine speaking so confidently to casual peers. This business persona is also accompanied by a sly smirk, but Shuuya does not smile as much outside of it.
Since Shuuya has only lived in the city for a year, he is not yet familiar with urban practices and sometimes lacks common sense (i.e. the fast trains were a completely new phenomenon to him). He prefers things from his town (such as baked goods or non electronic toys) but is gradually growing to enjoy things from the city.

Background History
Raised in a quiet suburban town in Kansai, Shuuya’s knack for quick solutions and synergy was unforeseen. His parents praised him as “smart for his age” and witty, but his uncle declared that his problem solving and creative approaches would be perfect for marketing. Although Shuuya was young unsure of what his uncle meant, he became somewhat interested in business after his uncle’s declaration. His extra attention to his uncle’s words stemmed from the fact that he was one of the most successful businessmen in Tokyo, having started his company in Kansai and then moving to the big city.
Wanting to get his uncle’s attention, he began researching and asking his teachers at school about business and how people came to be so successful. The next time his uncle visited he impressed (as much as a 10 year old could) his uncle with his interest and knowledge about the business world. His uncle praised him by saying “Well we’ve got ourselves a little businessman! Maybe someday you can join me in Tokyo”. Shuuya took his praise as major compliment and came to the conclusion that he could become as successful as his uncle with his talents and ambition.
With this praise from such a big figure in his life Shuuya received a huge surge of confidence and would only talk about how talented his uncle said he was when other people his age tried to approach him. Unfortunately this ego alienated him from people his age, and besides Maya and Remy, Shuuya did not have many friends. After Maya left to join her father in the city Shuuya found talking to people harder (since Maya had always been there to liven up conversations). Shuuya became quieter with talking about his talents after realizing that he was showing off too much (although he still believed that he was clever and able to become very successful).
Despite his parents telling him to just stay in Kansai and attend the local college, Shuuya decided to head to Tokyo. He firmly told his parents that he wanted to go into business and make it big like his uncle. Although his parents feared that he was being too ambitious, they cautiously agreed to let him go but have since then changed their minds since he seemed to support himself fine after adjusting to the city and getting a job.
His first time in the city was a debacle, but he adjusted in about half a year with the help of his cousin Maya (though he still doesn’t understand some things in the city, such as the abundance of arcades and competitive gaming). Shuuya found the anonymity and quick pace of the city much more enjoyable than the ‘everybody-knows-each-other’ way of the suburbs. Although he managed to find a job as a headhunter for a small publishing company, he felt that it wasn’t enough. Shuuya believed that if he stayed in small companies he wouldn’t be able to fully use his talents or be considered special.
Unsatisfied, Shuuya is now seeking to join the 6 star hotel hoping to be able to work for a large and famous establishment, proving how far he can go with his talents. Although his motivations and desires are rather childish, he is completely ready to work his hardest.
