Luna!

So, with Halloween coming up, I figured pumpkin carving was in order, and to that end, I thought I would make something Nightmare Night themed, and what better thing to make than Luna silhouetted against a crescent moon?

At first I was just planning on making Luna's shape including her mane and have it all at the same level of light. This would have meant moving her mane out of the way so her head didn't look like a giant blob, but as it turns out, in virtually every instance Luna's mane is always on the side she's facing. So, after realizing I could make some of the carving translucent, I decided her mane would be lighter than the rest.

Carving this took about four hours or so. I've never tried to do anything quite this detailed with a pumpkin before, it took a lot of carving and chiseling stuff with exacto knives, but the end result was awesome! I fear I may have misshapen her muzzle and the end of her tail, but those were both due to difficulty maneuvering the knife around to get the desired shapes, and I like the thing anyway.
