Kikao had woken up cold. It had been an awful night for her, she had luckily not been ambushed by hyenas, thanks to her excellent choice in makeshift dens, but it wasn't exactly cozy. As soon as she had awoken, she had began walking. However something on the wind caught her attention, a smell she had never smelled before. It was smoky and sulfurish. Scanning the purple morning horizon, her eyes had caught sight of smoke rising above what looked like a tall mountain. Suddenly she saw it; That was the volcano Ari had been talking about! She remembered having it pointed out to her at camp, but it hadn't been smoking that day. Then she thought of something; If she could climb the volcano, maybe she could pinpoint where the crooked tree camp was! Her legs immediately began moving faster in the direction of the smoldering mountain.

It took hours to reach the volcano, even with no sidetracks such as lions or buffalo herds. She even managed to catch herself a yellow catfish in a dried up waterhole, which she had for breakfast. With a full belly and high spirits, she began climbing. The land slowly turned rockier and steeper, and plants disappeared the further up she ascended. soon enough, it was nothing but pumice and minerals to trod upon. Her legs turned black from the ash and igneous deposits as she rose above the plains. Kikao passed a few deep, gaping holes in the mountainside, some more than twenty tail lengths wide! They were breathing white clouds of nasty smelling gasses that made her dizzy if she got too close. Slight tremors underfoot made her pause every now and then, and reassess her decision to climb the unpredictable landmark. Uchafu continued anyway.
After a good hour of climbing, it became too smoky and stinky to continue. She was only a few minutes away from the peak, and was curious, but she didn't want to overspend her energy. Climbing trees was one thing, but mountains were just plain difficult. She turned around, sat down in the loose rocks, and scoped out the landscape. It was breathtaking: Grazing herd animals looked like tiny insects from this view, and the ocean was splayed in full view beyond the vast grasslands and scrub forests. Uchafu's eyes nit picked through the land, looking for the familiar layout of the crooked tree camp. Soon enough, next to a dense wood, lay a speck of acacia in an unmistakable pattern. It was her home! She looked at her previous position where she had been before climbing the mountain, and saw the path she was about to take before she climbed her vantage point. It was way out of the way. Breathing a sigh of disappointment of herself, she shook her head and got back up, stretching all muscles, readying herself for the descent. She knew where to go now, and she was going home!
Before she could finish stretching her front legs, an earsplitting crack rippled through the air, followed by a surge of energy from the earth below her. Looking back at the last moment, she saw a column of red and orange liquid spewing into the air fifty tail lengths higher on the mountain. Her eyes were as wide as turtle shells. Some of it threatened to rain down upon her, but landed just steps away. It sizzled when it hit the rock, and she could feel immense heat coming her way. She chirruped in astonishment and leapt away, rolling backwards down the slope. She skidded right side up and regained her upright position, but ran down the hill as quickly as possible. Uchafu looked back up at her camp and whispered a prayer: "Keepers guide me..."

I really had fun with this one haha! I overdramatized the picure. I was thinking of adding a humorous aspect by making her make a face, a face similar to a face she would make if she threw a cow pie at someone, missed, hit the chief, and began running for her life lol but i decided this was good :b I love how it came out though. And im having lots of fun creating her quest story
