I'm still getting my Deviantart caught up- but I felt this painting was important to post now <3
Words can't describe how emotionally impacted I feel by the events transpiring in Ukraine right now. My heart goes out to Ukraine. The strength of the people- in both actions and words- is undeniable and inspiring. I was moved by this quote from their president, and his continued efforts on the front lines- I had to work out these emotions into a painting.
This piece, while it can be seen as turmoil or despair, to me it is about strength. A stag is a powerful animal, no doubt, but not one prone to aggression. It's an animal you'd expect to choose flight over fight. Yet he stands his ground, and faces the flames head on, unafraid.
Stay strong and safe, everyone. I am thinking of everyone in Ukraine, and all of those in Russia who have been protesting. Do not forget- this is the act of the government, not the people. I don't get politic too often- I hope the comments can be civil. There's enough hatred right now ❤
