I ended up reworking my Senior Portfolio yet again. My final idea was to do portraits of each of my main characters, paired up as foils, with each one representing a specific trait.This is Ithur'iul and Nathinel, their characters embody the traits of chaos and control respectively.

There's some irony to this piece actually. Ithur'iul as a character is more controlled in emotions than Nathinel. However, Nathinel is obsessed with the concept of control, and wishes to have complete control over his surroundings, while Ithur represents the notion that one can never have total control. He was created by Nathinel to be controlled but proved to have a mind of his own.
Their relationship reflects a concept that is fundamental to science fiction (seen reflected in a lot of great sci-fi, like Jurassic Park): Humanity trying to control nature and discovering that sort of control is not possible because there are too many minute factors in play. One of my favorite authors, Michael Crichton, was a master at writing about these sorts of scenarios, so the dynamic between these two characters is sort of a homage to him.

I love how you drew Nathinel's face and expression. It actually feels kind of Bluth-y, even though intentionally it doesn't really look like his style. Also, I think you're really getting good at differentiating characters and their expressions.

Your stuff always makes me say "Wow!" I love how you use lighting and add that sheen to hair. It gives it so much life and depth.

I've been able to spot all of the emotions except for this one. But very well done for all of them, the top blue one is especially cute.
