Description I detached Fallen Angel body into several armor parts. They can be animated when I add skin modify to my character model and add CAT bip to my character model. I also linked the armor parts to a CAT bip.

Texture needs to be work in process for specular and normal map.

software:
3Ds Max
Adobe Photoshop - texture maps

Does linking the separate parts work with skinning or do you have to attach everything so it is one mesh?

I tried to link separate to an editable poly model. But when I animate with CAT rig, they don't work together. Like skin modify does not recommended for a robot with separate parts/limb.

exactly my point....when using skin modifier, you have to attach everything into one mesh.

There is another way of rigging the separate piece but you have to use bones to do it and not biped but only for complex area. For the movable piece, you place a separate bone on it but just make sure that bone is attached to the main bone which makes the skeleton rig for the full body.

I'm sorry. Maybe I didn't make myself clear. It's a robot-like character. Meaning it's ridged. So the outer parts are seperate. The inner body is one piece. The inner body I used skin. The outer armor I linked the bones.
