It’s Aina and Gratiella! Aina’s Grayl’s wife and Gratiella’s their adorable mixed daughter.
Aina
- She's a snail and a scientist, specifically a biologist. She's also Grayl's wife.
- She’s 44 years old, she’s a woman, and she’s a lesbian.
- She's soft-spoken, bashful, and passionate.
- She came upon Grayl while searching the beach for creatures to study.
- She and Grayl were in a relationship a couple years before Grahamm was born.
- She felt guilty about disappearing from Grayl’s life all those years and is thankful they were able to fix their relationship.
- She loves both Grahamm and Gratiella very much. Even though she wasn’t there for most his life, he sees her as a mom and she sees him as a son.
- She’s a Water Grimm/snail hybrid. She’s Grayl and Aina’s daughter as well and Grahamm’s baby sister.
- She's 1 month old and a girl.
- She's very shy, easily startled, and likes to take it easy.
- She is technically Grayl's first child but reborn. Her first child was a stillborn. With NKG's magic, she was able to put that child's spirit into a new body. The thing that proved it was the same child was a star birthmark on her chest which both babies have.
- When startled she often retreats into her shell.
- She has the amphibious traits of her Grimm side.
Gratiella was originally born as a stillborn. After she was buried, Grayl tried for another child a year later. After a scuffle with pirates she ended up losing another child. She fell further into depression and ended up letting the tides wash her up on shore. Aina found her and initially was going to study her. Upon realizing she was sapient, she completely changed her tune. She ended up taking Grayl home and nursing her back to health. She also helped her bury her child as well. She and Grayl ended up living together for years and became a couple.
Grayl suffered another miscarriage and she helped her through that as well. Years after this incident, Grayl decided to try one more time for a child. She was out at sea when she laid the egg and when it hatched into a healthy child. On land, Aina’s findings had made a scientific breakthrough, so scientists from Termesdon City more or less took her to the city so she could continue her work. She didn’t even get time to tell Grayl what was happening and that she was leaving. When Grayl returned with her new baby, Grahamm, she was heartbroken to come home to an empty house.
Almost a decade later, Aina finally got them to be more lenient and she was able to return back to Shellstead Shores and continue her work there. She went back to her same home and was surprised at how “lived in” it still appeared. Grayl thought someone had broken in and almost attacked her and was surprised to see Aina. She promptly tried to attack her again and wondered why she even came back. They were having a lil argument until Grahamm came to investigate. He was worried about them arguing so they promised not to argue around him. Grayl and Aina sat down and actually talked about what happened a decade ago. Grayl is unsure how to feel about her and the situation, but ends up letting her stay since it was technically still her house.
After some time, they decided they’d try their relationship again. It ended up going swimmingly. Soon enough, Grayl wanted to try for another child but was worried about carrying it. She also told Aina about the ordeal with her past child’s soul and basically bringing it back in whatever new child they have, and Aina happily agreed to it. A couple months later, Gratiella was born and they were happy to welcome a new child into their family. Aina continued her work and started acting as a teacher/mom to Grahamm. Grayl and Aina’s relationship continued to improve. And Gratiella grew and also got close to her cousins.
