how did you do highlights, with which markers, or not markers or what?

What happened to the 3rd layer!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chernobylpets In reply to SupaSyked [2007-01-05 19:58:07 +0000 UTC]

3rd layer was simply adding another layer of the primary colors to create a deep and solid color background for the shadowing.

saturating the paper with your base color also allows for ease in blending shadows to highlights.

thanks for asking.....^^

That's a very valuable lesson there. cool

ooh nice, I like the progression of layers.

What did you use for the highlights? did you do that digitally? 'cause I find that I can't do highlights afterwards with markers..

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Chernobylpets In reply to MapleRose [2006-09-29 14:12:25 +0000 UTC]

To answer your question,
Highlights are done with a combination of colorless blender and and eraser. (very few of my touch-ups are done digitally...since i do not had very good software...and I am CG illiterate..lol)

I use the colorless blender to loosen the ink and make it more fluid, and I then blend/remove the ink with eraser.

**if you desire to highlight without removing ink (which i recommend....since you stand less a chance of ruining the picture if you mess up) dilute white acrylic paint and layer it thinly until you acquire the desired effect.

.....
I am planning another...(more detailed) coloring tutorial with COPIC Sketch Markers..
do you have any suggestions or specific requests?

Sincerely,
Chernobyl

*P.S. NoteIM me anytime.....I would love to converse

MapleRose In reply to Chernobylpets [2006-10-01 05:11:34 +0000 UTC]

ah I see... but I since the paper I use is pretty thin, the ink pretty much gets absorbed, so the colourless blender doesn't quite work for me But I'll try the acrylic paint method does watercolour work for that?

Ooh, Copic marker tutorial, that'd be interesting, 'cause that's what I use. Um, requests, not really... but I guess I want to know if you know a way to apply the base colours evenly, because sometimes I tend to end up with these marker scars where the brushstrokes overlap (did I confuse you? sorry = = )

Chernobylpets In reply to MapleRose [2006-10-12 20:06:43 +0000 UTC]

watercolor paint might work... (can't say for sure since I never tried it.) I usually grab the acrylic platinum white and water it down to a consistency that meets my needs.

As for the tutorial....
I will gladly go over different methods of ensuring your base coat looks even.
thanks for the suggestion.

i was just wondering how much those art pen/markers were and where you got them (or I could get them ^_^) I have the so called "good" art markers but I think they just put a fancy name on a crayola marker and raised the price...so I'm looking for good quality markers ^_^ and the ones you used seem to be what i'm looking for

info for ju:

[link] COPIC MARKERS WEBSITE (this is seriously expensive....so I don't recommend you actually purchase anything from here,....but you will find the photographic references helpful since most discount sites *including the two listed below* do not have pictures of the items....just nomenclatures.)

[link] Blick Art Materials...A great place to purchase both COPICS and Faber Catell PITT artist pens.

[link] Carpe Diem Store...My fav place to purchase art materials online. (prices comparable to "Blick" plus or minus a few bucks....

**FYI for future reference....I list all my favorite browsing and shopping sites on my journal....."Chernobyl's Linx" [link]

I hope you find this info helpful...

Sincerely,
Chernobyl.

Yey, you posted another one! I really like seeing these. But how did you get from the 6th layer to the 7th? I see the differences, but how'd you get it that way?

I mean the highlights, especially on the netal arm. You somehow made some of the marker alot lighter ><. I was just wondering how you did it.
