It is pretty interesting to see how Ruby is able to cope with
grief far better than most people could in her position.

Agreed!! Ruby is very strong, emotionally... but that first scene in volume 3 made me very emotional... lol
I look forward to more backstory, especially why Qrow and Winter might not like each other (seems to be some hostility between them in the opening animation!).

I really just hope it isn't Ruby will end up following her moms foot steps.
My theory about Qrow and Winter's animosity is mainly Qrows fault because
he is uses fights like this to escape the grief of both his two teammates.

Yeah, I think that is also why Qrow has a drinking problem... lol Drowning his grief with alcohol. Summer is dead and his sister Raven is off somewhere... I think Raven is part of the White Fang, but that's because of the mask she wears.

Although given her idealistic personality and love of weaponry, I think
the most intriguing what if future would be her to succeed James
Ironwood as General of the Atlesian Army.
Although I was thinking that if it was Taiyang died and Summer lived,
