Gakupo blinked as his eyes woke up to darkness around him. But tonight it wasn't completely dark like he used to expect when he would wake up at an odd time of the witching hour. The thick curtains were tightly shut; there were no lights out on the hallway (unless it's Meiko on her midnight trip for alcohol from the fridge or Kaito craving for some ice-cream). But still, Gakupo noticed that something is making his room dim.

As his eyes slowly adjust to see in the dark, he turned his head around and found out why. He smiled. Of course, how can he be such a fool?

Next to him, lay a sleeping boy whose back is facing Gakupo, his arms wrapped around a large white kitty doll with his name stitched to its cheeks. Soft, white hair covering his face and hogging half of the pillow he slept on. It was the hair that fascinated the samurai. With no other source to gather light, the white hair that he'd seen all day and taken for granted, just seems to change colours when at night. It was now dim-like silver coloured, its translucent colour emitting out a soft glow.

Fascination is not only one of the reasons why Gakupo loves Piko so much. There was his smile, his shyness when in front of the samurai, his lovable personality, and his cuteness. Who could deny the last?

Maybe it could've explained why just one day before he knew he'll love Piko that he bought a king-sized futon fit for two (or three). And why Piko said he wanted to stay in his room instead of taking the room that all the other vocaloids had taken hard work to refurbish it? (Piko's excuse that another vocaloid can take it someday was already a discreet hint of what was to come back then.)

Suddenly, the white-haired boy's body turned around, rolling closer to the samurai with his large kitty doll still in his arms. Gakupo can hear Piko's soft breathing as he slept on without care.

With a content sigh, the samurai gently wrapped his arms around Piko and pulled him closer, his dark blue-coloured yukata looked like shadow arms wrapping around the white-haired boy. On the witching hour of tonight, a boy who glowed brightly day and night, was protected a dark mauve shadow wrapping around his body. Light and darkness, they covered out for each other.

Despite their differences, when light and darkness mixed together they created something special and beautiful.
