Description
Terri

Monster.

His voice saying those words played like a broken record. They stung Terri's ears when he would try to sleep at night.

That's really what he thinks of me, huh? A monster. A monster that does nothing but feast on others ether. Just like that thing. Whatever it is.

He grumbled as his thoughts pushed him from pain into frustration. The sounds of fabric buckling under his claws wasn't enough to snap him out of it. He growled loudly and threw his pillow across his room. Garri poked their head up from their spot in the room to seemingly give a sympathetic look. Terri's eyes locked with Garri, his expression of clear disgust.

"Don't look at me like that."

He practically snarled at the poor vessel. Garri simply picked the pillow up, patted it, then brought it back to the bed. Terri's glare softened, yet it was still a glare.

"Thanks...I guess..."

He mumbled as he roughly flopped back into his bed. His eyes were now burning through the ceiling. Even if they felt heavy, they were restless. As was Terri's obsessive thoughts on his situation.

A monster. That's all you are. Useless to society and useless to this family. Filthy blood sucking flea!

Words rang through still yet. However, they started to sound less and less like Haze. No...this was a woman now. Someone very familiar. He's seen her before, hasn't he? Like...recently, right? Suddenly his eyes widened with realization. Her. That monster he heard when he first arrived to the grove. At first he didn't understand her but...now her words are making sense. Too much sense.

You're weak! Your mind AND your body! What a waste to this family. What a waste to me! Your own MOTHER.

"...My mother...?"

He didn't even realize the words left his lips. Tears started rolling down his cheeks. No wonder Haze believes he's a monster. His own mother feels like this about him.

I can't believe I gave birth to something so weak. Look at you crying even now! As an adult! You disgust me!

Terri lurched forward and grabbed his head. Hopelessly trying to make it shut up.

"No! I'm not! I'm not weak!!"

He fought back. Pleading with himself to believe that he's more than what she says. Yet it was all in vain. He couldn't shake the fact that this is probably what everyone sees when they look at him. Regardless if they say otherwise. Soon, all he could hear were the sounds of his own sobs. At least the cycling of insults began to sound like nothing but static. Almost as if too many were speaking at once to the point nothing could be made out anymore.

He cried until he was beyond exhausted. He wasn't sure how he got there, but he found himself laying in bed. Blankly, he stared ahead at nothing. Garri had made its way into his arms by this point as well. Terri squeezed him close. The plush of his body bringing a comfort that he didn't know he still needed. He was fine with being weak in that moment. If that meant he got to hold Garri like this. Garri seemed to know what Terri needed as it snuggled into his shoulder and pat on his back lovingly.

"At least I still have you..."

His voice hoarse by this point. He didn't care. Garri needed to know he appreciates him despite everything.

As he stared off more, just as he was beginning to give in to slumber, there was a resolve.

I'll prove it to you. I'll prove to you that I'm not weak.

He spoke internally to himself, then finally, closed his eyes for the night.
