Description A speck of lead, no bigger than a grain of rice, can cause lead poisoning and ultimately death in an Eagle. Lead shot, left in gut piles by hunters is a major concern. A fish that has swallowed lead tackle (ie: sinkers) and then is consumed by an Eagle is another concern. There are available alternatives to lead-based ammo and fishing tackle.

Lead poisoning, loss of habitat, wind turbines, airplanes, pollution and of course man, are beginning to take their toll on the Eagle population and their numbers are dwindling.

It makes me wonder how soon the majestic Bald Eagle will once again be placed on the "Endangered Species" list.

I agree, lead is a real poison!
I hope that Bald eagles won't disappear, along with many other species, including human beings.
