Been working on this a few days now, trying to master that baffling skill that is clean lineart on Tegaki-E.I think I got it, but oh my hell of god I am never doing it again. It's a pain in the ass.
Anywho Etsuko here is a bakeneko (Actually she's a nekomata but for some reason I like "bakeneko" better). I created her kind of on a whim to join a role play group on Tegaki, but I've become rather fond of her. Maybe you'll see more of her in the future, hm?

by the way, is that Japanese next to her or Chinese? probably Japanese, but I'm pretty sure it says something in Chinese as well. uhm. I get the feeling I should know both characters, but I only know the second one, which isn't really a meaningful word in itself.

B'aaw, thanks~ I actually did ONE other picture with lineart like this, but then I gave up half-way through.
It's the Japanese form of her name: "etsu" (joy) and "ko" (child). I'm sure they're also Chinese characters considering Japan adopted and modified the Chinese system of writing way back in the day.

yah. them clever japanese. just recylcing bits of someone else's language. sorta like the Romans. they just took the old Greek gods and named them different and used it as a 'new' religion. but at least the civilization they took it from was already gone. DX my sister is learning Japanese (we're Chinese) and she keeps getting confused because so many of the characters are the same.

I love that design of hers. The brown goes nicely on the white when it's blended like that. I also love the eye marking and back stripes.

It's supposed to be about mythological creatures, which is why I used a bakeneko, but a few people seem to have misunderstood so there are kemonomimi-style characters as well.
