Description In order to practice my pixels a bit more, I figured I should attempt to spritefy (v. to make a sprite out of something. Also, spritify, sprite-ify.) a piece. Thing is, I really didn't want to draw anything new just for the purpose of polishing pixels. Furthermore, these two established characters already had color palettes I could easily gank. So I just used the sketch I did in deviantART muro .

I wish I had saved progress steps along the way as I worked on Felicia, but alas, I did not. There, there. Dry your eyes. You will find a way to deal with this. It will just take time.

Top is WIPs, bottom is static.

And of course, a big thanks to my buddy *Kiwi-RGB who guided me along the way and polished up the final frame.

I'm nothing without *Kiwi-RGB .

Are you still cheating* and using Illustrator to put down those pixel lines? Because I'm trying that now and it just isn't quite coming out precise enough with fighter-sized sprites -- but big portrait pixels are an excellent time to do it

No, I haven't actually done the Illustrator method yet because I don't know what I'm doing if I'm not using the paintbrush or pencil tools - and I haven't had anything to motivate me to learn beyond that.

I think you taught me wrong, by the way. Just the filter pixelate>mosaic in Photoshop does all the hard stuff and voila, instant pixel art!

Now, don't you feel silly wasting all your time making those tutorials when all anyone really has to do is click a filter?

I'm going home and making depression cupcakes which someone else probably made better, faster and easier, too.

Sweet, I have always wanted to learn how to do proper pixel art, mine just look like I colored an image...I can never get the "pixels" to show

That was exactly my problem before I got some schooling from the master. I have to say, he helped me out a lot. I still have a long way to go, but now I understand the fundamentals.
