Description
Tundra in her restored condition, along with some upgrades not present in her original form.
Lore:
Her construction began in 1983 as the third operational shuttle of the Buran shuttle program. By the time the Soviet Union had collapsed, she was only half finished, and her parts were stored in the construction factory in Tushino.
In 2011, after being left abandoned, she was transported to the site of MAKS 2011 and partially cosmetically restored. She remained at the site until 2022, where she was bought by Yeag Transport and moved from Zhukovsky to a restoration facility in the United States.
The process took several months, but by mid-2023, she was completely restored and air-worthy. Her ceramic tiles were replaced with a polyurethane substitute, and she was fitted with four jet engines that allowed her to participate in air shows.
She currently resides in an air museum in a special wing dedicated to showcasing the Soviet shuttle program, and also making the occasional flight demonstration for spectators. She was also named Tundra, since she had never been officially named.
(NOTE: the second half of the lore (post 2022) is completely fictional, the current location of OK-2.01 is unknown. It also was never outfitted with jet engines.)
