fan art for one of my all-time favorite games, ashley riot, main character of squaresoft's blessed game, vagrant story. it's not by any means accurate, and manlier than akihiko yoshida's gender-bending character designs, which some fans might find unappealing but, alas, it's my version so take it or leave it.

for those who want to know, he's carrying:
a francisca one-handed axe, hagane
a lug crossbow, damascus
a khukuri dagger, silver
a shamshir one-handed sword, hagane
and a holy win, damascus, with three arturos gems attached.
and he's wearing dread armor.

Dude this is so freakin' sweet man. I've always wanted to see some fanart of Riot lugging his gear around with armor and aythang. From what the shields show, I'd like to see a suit of Jazeraint armor.

Vagrant Story is one of my all time favourite games, everything about it from it's brilliant Shakespearian story to the munitae and complexity of the weapon customisation just appealed to me, playing it is like eating juicy fruit.
Much the same can be said of your work here, I'm not offeded by your 'manlier' interpretation of Ashley, your interpretation of the character design doesn't detract from it at all. Indeed lumping all those weapons on a more svelt Ashley would look rather odd.
My desire to replay this game was strong and you have done nothing to sate my thirst for it sir! I commend you on your work and thus you hav earned yourself not just a fave, but a watch aswell!

It is a bloody good game, and the sad thing is they only managed to do half of what they wanted to, who knows what what we might have seen if they'd done everything they'd wanted?

It is, it is... I can't wait for FFXII; it has the same art director and composer. That is a to die for combination. I only wish they'd make VS2, or re-release it. That would be cool.

yes, it's intentionally short. in the game, it's a two-handed broadsword. i changed it in my rendition for composition (and physics) purposes.

i love vagrant story and your version of ashley rocks, he is a bit more buff than he is in the game but i love it.
