Description
This artwork was created for the 0401 collab that finished today on Twitter! I decided to use this opportunity to do a lot of learning with raycast and modelling. The artwork is based on MimiroboP's "Song of the Eared Robot", which was an extremely early Teto song released in 2012. I found this song through Miku Symphony which they used to honour Teto in 2018, and as the song is about Teto's development, I thought it was a great song to base some fanart on! After watching Naoto's animated PV of the song, I absolutely fell in love the little robot they designed. There was an official model for the robot, however it's no longer available and was more stylised whereas I wanted to recreate the original design as closely as possible. Apart from the :Glow Series: assets, I hadn't properly modelled anything before, but it was fairly straightforward as the concept was very easy to recreate with the primitives in PMXe. I made the robot model from scratch, and I'm super proud of it! You can download the model here: www.deviantart.com/chestnutsco…

So this was the first time I've used raycast on my new PC, and I am loving it! It's so much better me being able to take my time deciding on nromalmaps and lighting rather than only having a few hours on my bf's computer haha. For this first render I decided to use the normalmaps that come with ray, and in the future I'm gonna find some externally made ones ^^
