though i don't know a sauropod that lived along maiasaura, i like the image of long necks and duckbills spread out together, like seeing giraffes mixed with zebras! welcoem to jurassic park!

Alamosaurus is the only one it could be, I believe.

What Sauropod do you have featured in the background? And excellent painting!

I suspect Alamosaurus, since it's the only North American sauropod of the Late Cretaceous known from good remains.

But I doubt they ranged that far north. Maisauria is from Montana. Alamosaurus was in Texas, New Mexico, and Utah which was its farthest northern extent. It doesn't belong in the more swampy habitats of Campanian-age Montana (no sauropod does), but nevertheless this is a very beautiful painting.

In the earlier Cenomanian epoch, Montana wasn't so swampy, and there were some sauropods like Sauroposeidon (juvenile remains now at Yale Peabody Museum) have been found from those older rock layers.

That was the exact same thought pattern I had. The only solution I could come up with, was that a new Northern Sauropod had been discovered without my knowing of it xD

Excellent piece. Great atmosphere. I like the detail of the little cameo from Raul Martin's work in the background
