I must say that this piece really vaught my attention in the preview. I totally fell in love with your colors! They are just sooo awesome! I feel like being somewhere when the sun is setting down and everything is just beautifully radiating golden and orange rays. Really good work.
I really like the overall mood of this piece, it gives me kind of nostalgy, but the good one, that you are actually smilling while thinking about the past.
To the animal itself, I have no idea whether you did or did not have any refs, but I think that it is anatomically on point and even if it weren't, the style of the piece could easily give impression of that.Β
I like the fact that you shouwed the texture of the fur a bit in some places but let it be invisible in others, it adds much more abstract depth to this piece.Β
The only thing I do not really like is the "muddy" bacground, I think a bit cooler color would add much nicer effect. I mean maybe a totally different hue could make the animal "stand out".Β

I did use a few references for anatomy, so thankfully it came out alright hahaha!
Thank you for the comments on the background, I'll definitely focus a bit more on how the background works with the primary focus of the painting itself in my future works.Β

I was going for a mixed emotional type of piece where colors where kind of bright and happy but the raccoon may not appear to be as such.

It's really great. Plus, Raccoon's are Rad. They have an opposable thumb, which in retrospect is kind of creepy.
