Grey Fox & Solid Snake from KONAMI's [Metal Gear] series.This is a remake of a very old pic I did about 2-3years ago. I found it recently, and still loved the idea/composition so much that I decided to draw it again. It came out so much better than I originally thought it could all those years ago.
It's pretty amazing what a few years can do to one's artwork.
The pencils are done in Salvador Laroca's X-Treme X-Men style (one I used on some previous Legacy of Kain work - look at my early submissions for those). I think it's probably one of the best things I've ever taken on from another artist.
The colouring was a bitch, took me ages, but it was well worth it; and well worth the experimentation!
I'm really glad that I am finally managing to colour with more depth and texture!

Very nice! I especially like the colors and shades! But, I think they are too stocky. They should be a bit taller than that, but it's still very good!

I like the idea of this art. Now friends, later - enemies... yet on the same side. Performance is very good, colouring is pretty nice... Despite some little mistakes it still a very good work

Uber amazing colouring, I still wish I could colour like that, you've been improving in leaps and bounds with it. Good application of lighting and shading and interesting textures on the metal. Are those from the new brushes you downloaded? I'm still feeling rather dubious about Snake's lower half. Forgive me for saying this but he seems curiously... midget-like. Something just seems out of proportion there. Otherwise everything else is awesome - love the colour palette, and I really like Grey Fox's hand for some weird reason...

Nah don't worry about it. I knew u had issue with his lower body and again i was too lazy to change it. My artistic eye in denial again....
The colouring came out way much better than i ever expected it too...very very happy with it!!
And yeah the texture brushes are ones i downloaded from tippy, see the comment for the link (not that u need to coz we use the same computer but....I'll plug it for other people's benefit

Thats nice work. Except the legs on Grey fox are too short, each leg segment should equal the length of his torso, and Snakes head is just a little too big, not that much, just a tad, And the legs once again a little too short. I dig the colors you put on the piece hardcore. Good work.

Oh man, u know ur completely right about all of that. It's funny how it takes someone to come out and say it before i notice it at all. I guess it's just my artistic eye in denial! But the strange thing is that the pencils look OK, and the colour doesn't.

I just wanted to do something a lil different and divorced from the franchise that MGS now is.
