Description
In Romania, an old peasant leads a baby calf out of the cow house for the first time in its one day long life.The image reflects not only the condition of man as the great domesticator, but the power of man as a terrestrial God, a reason for mutations and extinctions in the animal world.

This is... I dunno.. special. This appeals to me alot and Im not exactly sure why, technically its very well taken, everything from the focus to the lighting to the... etc. etc. you get it, outside of that its a very appealing shot for reasons unknown

imi place mult fundalul intunecat, fotografia nefiind subexpusa. if i may ask, how did you do it? si cu ce camera(...da, stiu, sunt 2 intrebari, couldn't get a hold of myself

Pai, initial era color, am editat-o in Photoshop, adica conversie B&W, am tras de Levels (destul de mult), fundalul era deja intunecat de la natura, iar leveling am accentual exact ce ma interesa.
In ceea ce priveste camera, profesoru meu obisnuieste sa spuna 'Fotograful face fotografia, nu camera.' Inainte foloseam un Sony mic, acum am un Canon mare, si cu unul si cu altul au iesit si imagini bune si imagini mai putin bune, cu singura diferenta ca intre timp am mai invatat cateva lucruri.

great contrast and framing. the hand coming into the frame really makes this what it is. having the background drop out like that really helps to evoke that dark feeling.

In primul rand nu iti uiti limba materna dupa 3 luni de mers in State. Am fost si eu acolo 3 luni vara trecuta si nu am uitat nici un cuvant. (Nu, nu sunt nationalista)
In al doilea rand, asta e doar un moft de roman plecat in State, om care simte nevoia sa se debaraseze de propria identitate, sa poate de om lipsit de identitate.
(Doar o presupunere: In al treilea rand, banuiesc ca ai plecat si tu acolo la truda ca tot studentu' de rand si ai ramas acolo intr-o ilegalitate pe care incerci sa o legalizezi)

Expression of the little cow is great! I also liked B&W tones.

Strong expression.
The hand holding the head from the shadows is dramatic and supports the concept.
The cow looks sad, and the B&W is very fitting.
I think you could have made this a little wider to incluse the cow legs. The balance would be better, making the hand smaller in the overview and "surprised" when seeing it. It would be stronger.
