I've been getting to do a lot of work for the Seattle Aquarium through my internship at Modern Dog! It's a dream come true.Now, I'm happy with this art for what it is-- a corporate-audience rushed illustration. But I wish wish WISH I could have spent more time on it... There are so many elements that I could have done better, and I had a ton more little sea floor critters that I wanted to add in. We're talking about making this into a poster, and I'd like to rework the illustration before than happens. But, for an -Annual Report- cover, I'm pretty darn proud of it.

Simple yet beautiful! I'm not a big fan of stylizing but advertisements are usually that way and I thought you did a great job. I love the kelp forest sweeping across and the uniform balance of colors. Wow doing posters for the Seattle Aquarium, congratulations.

despite being "rushed" as you say, this piece looks like it took a lot of time to make! Wonderfully layered elements and the fluid movement works well with the color scheme. I don't know how to express it but everything in this illustration just works. Also, it always helps to have a cute critter looking straight at you!

Coming from a designer, this is great work. I know how amazingly difficult and extremely tedious a complicated vector (or simply vector-style) illustration can be, and I have to applaud you for maintaining high quality throughout the entire piece. It is a great mix of modern illustration and classic art thinking. Great job.

On another note, be very careful about posting designs on places like DA and Facebook. It isn't a terribly large problem while you are an intern, but a lot of places consider it an intellectual-property leak when anything that hasn't actually hit the public is posted somewhere. Particularly anal clients (or bosses) will even consider sketches or dropped ideas to be theft.
The answer is to check your contract before you accept a job. I highly suggest spending $50-$100 to sit with a lawyer and have them explain every. single. sentence. It prevents problems like ownership of all ideas, employers owning your name (no joke, I've really seen this), non-compete employment (you can not be employed for years at a time), and other creative ickys.

Nurse shark, seal and is that a coelacanth I see? Really impressive, but you had me at octopus. I love how you placed the city and how you can see so much under the water. My favorite part is the seaweed and how the seal is a little hidden by it. It also can go without saying I love the colors. Beautifully done.
