The title of this piece is very deceptive. The size of the pine tree is probably twenty or thirty times that of what is shown on the side of the mountain. What you see is just the tip of the pine tree. The trees at Sequoia Kings Canyon National Park are massive giants that tower above the park. This pine tree is probably no exception. However, I was not about to leave the security of the stairs that lead up the side of Morro Rock.

The climb up the rock lead us into the middle of a cloud itself where the deceptive tree top waited to be photographed. The contrast of the pine against the smoky white of the cloud was too good to pass up.
