Me as Katara from Avatar: The Last Airbender at AFO 2006. This was a lot of fun to make and to wear. Simple solids, and I was able to wear my black sneakers (coz Katara wears a pair very similar). My curly hair got in the way but next time I'll just braid the hair loopies.

I did this costume in 4 days. I kid you not. I can hardly believe it myself. I wasn't even gonna cosplay that year but I already had the fabric and decided 'why not? If I'm not done in time, I'll save it for next year'. I finished it the day before the con and it turned out pretty good for a rush job.

This costume comes with a funny story too:

I had a 3 day pass to the con and had already raided the dealer room that friday. So my bf and I decided to take our time getting there on saturday. I left my house wearing the costume and since we got to the hotel where the con was being held at around noon, we decided to get lunch first.

We stopped at the Popeyes because it was within walking distance of the con. I walked in, got in line and started scanning above the counter for the least toxic item on the menu. So there I am, minding my own business when I hear somebody scream behind me.

O.O I jumped and turned around and standing at the end of the line was a con goer with her camera. She pointed at me and went "Katara!" I was so surprised, I think all I did was go 'uh huh?'

^_^; So then she asks me for a picture and procedes to make my day super spiffy.

None of my costumes had ever gotten that sort of reaction before so it made my day XD.
