If it is lame in your eyes then nothing you will make will be perfect (no offense!)
you have to look at every piece of art you make with pride and beauty. Nothing in this world is lame nor is it perfect. Every thing is equal and it will never change!
....
But in reality! I think the same way you do. But that's just my advice talking... I don't know! I give advice like that to every one that thinks there art is lame or not perfect. (it's a habit that I have)
And that's good as long as you have fun drawing the character then there is nothing wrong with it!!
