I might scrap this later
I've been doing a few of these lately
I quite like finding old characters and designs and re-doing them~ shame I can't find more of my old work and that the work I can find doesn't tell me what exact year it was done in 
I'm guessing this was done in '04 judging by how I did hands and feet in '05 
hard to tell, I found it in a folder with stuff from '03 to '06 I've got two more of these eventually coming
...damn, I like the staff's redesign too much 
gotta find an existing OC that could use a staff like that...

shudder in what way? I don't really feel negitavely towards my old work, even the stuff which was traced, blatantly copied (unless it was from 2006/7 in which case it deeply annoys me)or done really badly. Though finding this did make me cringe a little, not because of the character itself but because I had given her and the other characters in her story lame sterotype labels, for example I gave this one the label of 'teacher's pet/the smart one'

Ah, that is quite nice, not having negative feelings for your older art. But I just can't seem to shake the *augh why did i do this feeling* whenever I find old peices, there are some exceptions. I believe I am in the same boat as you with character steroetypes. XD
But how to get out of them, I need to know how to do that..

You've come a very long way! She looks positively lovely and charming, plus the detailing is terrific. You're also doing an excellent job with poses and body language to go with the expression.

Heheh...I've seen you do these before and was starting to doubt you did the original until I read the time you did that
As for the staff, I'm thinking Princess Honey right off the bat. Sure it may be a crystal but you could also make it look like a honeycomb and still keep that design. And with the sharp ends it could then become more of her "weapon staff" so that she could hook onto things or use the "damaged crystal" area as a way to pin an enemy down by the neck to make them talk (since I'm sure you wouldn't want to do a lot of killing with her)

i can't really redesign ones which are active haha
and yes, that is quite a charming staff
