...Er, sorry for those unpleasantly shocked by my decision to interject sudden death in the middle of a story device usually built upon shenanigans. My writer side seems to enjoy getting in on the action from time to time, and this sort of thing will happen.

There's no doubt that the TG Overlords right now are looking down upon me with utter scorn.

If anyone welcomes the twist, though, I'm glad I could bring something different to the table.

As for what the fate of the young mage is, I leave it a purposeful cliff-hanger for the moment, meaning I suppose you can draw some conclusions of your own. Judging from his clumsy use of magic, and the assassin suddenly getting serious, however, things don't look exactly look good.

I hope you were able to enjoy this twelve pager. Again, I didn't expect it to stretch this long, but I was able to get it down at a quick and comfortable pace.
