I tell them they are beautiful, but they just laugh.
“What do you mean I'm beautiful?” they chuckle. “I'm nothing close to that.”
“But you are!” I exclaim. “You're the most beautiful person I've ever known.”
They stop laughing. “Okay, now I know you're joking. You must be joking... right?”
“Of course not” I say, confused. “Don't you know you're beautiful?”
They are confused now too. “No one has ever called me beautiful before.”
I can't believe that. With how stunningly beautiful they are, they must be told so all the time.
But they aren't. No one ever told them. And because of it, they never knew.
I realize that they must feel the same way about themselves as I feel about me.
Hating themselves. Believing that they are not worth it. That they are not beautiful.
And I tell them so.
“You are beautiful though” They say to me.
Now I am more confused then ever. How could anyone think that I am beautiful?
Me. With all of my flaws. All the mistakes that I am constantly making.
And then I realize, that they think the same way about themselves.

And you. You reading this. You are beautiful too.
And I'm sure you're laughing now too.
You are thinking 'this writer doesn't know me, how could they know if I am beautiful?'
But I do. I know, because everyone is beautiful.
Most of us don't realize it, but we are all beautiful.
We see all the flaws in ourselves, and all the beauty in others, and we think that we are not worthy.
But we are. We are just as beautiful as the people that we envy, and when it comes to it...
The people that we envy don't realize that they are beautiful either.
Even now, you still might not believe me.
You might think that you are exempt from this message. That this is not meant for you.
But it is. It is meant for you, and for everyone like you.
This is meant for all of the people who don't realize that they are beautiful.
So go on and live your life, and know that there are people who envy you too.
There are people who think you are beautiful.
And they are right.
