A bit of background: Born of a tribe of desert nomads, Rasha was always a curious, thoughtful, introspective sort. Bookish, you might say,except her people have yet to invent writing. Her life takes a turn for the unexpected when her tribe is annexed by a powerful empire-an unusual civilization, a militant, matriarchal society with strange laws governing reproductive rights. They only grant the right of motherhood to women who've survived years of military service or been victorious in one of the many state organized tournaments held annually. So Rasha and the other young women of her tribe must become warriors to ensure the survival of their people. To that end, the old wise women of the tribe work some ancient magic on them; a sort of energy manipulation, it redirects the bodies energies-specifically its sexual energies-and turns them into strength. It's very effective, and can potentially imbue a person with superhuman power, but of course it only works so long as the sexual energies that feed it go unreleased.
