Description Hello:
These are renders of the Ha'tak class mothership designed and used by the Goa'uld as the mainstay of their fleets, serving the dual role of heavy attack ship and of mothership for Tel'tak scouts, Death Gliders and Al'kesh bombers.

With the defeat of Ba'al, the galaxy thought to see the last of the Goa'uld, but in one of the many secluded corners of Milky-Way/Avalon, there is one Goa'uld lord who was returned from death: Thoth. He ralied all of the last forces creating a Remnant faction, but his intentions are unknown.

The Ha'tak class heavy cruiser, while the design is well-known by now, new construction materials and methods gives it a stronger hull, and an upgraded power core gives it better shields and weapons, making the new Ha'tak a formidable combatant.

The model was retouched and optimized, the texture was partially redone so it matches the hull colours of the Hassara class starabase and to differentiate the Goa'uld Remnant ships from the new ones created by the Free Jaffa.

In the first seasons of stargate it was a beast, but in the later seasons it got nerfed.

Yeah, that was very unfortunate because the ship is actually quite nice and very useful. The scale of power rose a lot during the later seasons indeed .

Almost unfairly so. It went from big bad wolf into cannon fodder.

Awesome Job!!!

I used to think that this ship was powerful, but then I remember all the different Goa'uld Motherships that have been destroyed throughout the show, and not to mention the movies.  I feel sort of bad for them, they were only capable when it comes to killing peasants and fighting each other and hopeless against the military of the Asgard, Earth, Ori and the Wraith. The only time they actually seemed like an actual threat was when the Lucian Alliance  got hold of them and seen in SGU : "Air, Part 1 " when they launched an attack against Icarus Base .

Hello:
 And thank you! .

Yeah, I also have a splitted mind about the Ha'taks, because they started as the mean evil ships of the bad guys, but then they became almost cannon-fodder when the Free Jaffa tried to help in the fight against the Ori, and then evil again with the Lucian Alliance. Maybe we can see this ship as we see Klingon ships, I mean, as the ship of choice for warriors, and maybe they do have good means to build more whenever need arises and when the Free Jaffa stabilizes more.

But you are soo right, the attack on Icarus base was scary .

It looks absolutely awesome! I totally like that you made the texture of the pyramid part look golden. The detail of the whole design is amazing, as usual in your work.
Keep it up!

Hello:
And thanks! . I was looking at several pics and I was not sure if it was because of ambience lighting but I didn't like how the pyramid would look dark orange, so I started playing around with golden shades, and I think it fits more with the egyptian style they are known for .

 Thanks! .

gdpr-20773443 In reply to Chiletrek [2016-02-14 14:12:02 +0000 UTC]

Yes, it definitely fits the Egyptian style, and given the fact that the walls inside the Ha'tak's are mostly made of gold (or golden material) as well, it seems logical that it's also golden on the outside. Maybe the used orange in the show because it's faster to render than gold?

Hello:
I am not sure if any colour would be easier to render than others, so I am not really sure. But I wanted to try my own colour scheme for the Ha'tak because most pics showed the pyramids too orange for my taste, so all future Goa'uld capital ships will have this colour scheme I came out with .  I hope it is fine .

gdpr-20773443 In reply to Chiletrek [2016-02-21 18:20:49 +0000 UTC]

I've experienced that rendering reflecting surfaces takes really a lot of time. I've had that with some metallic surfaces. I have a powerful GPU, so maybe it's the render engine that's working so slowly. I'm not sure about that...
I find the ships in the show too orange as well. Gold looks much more authentic in my opinion.

Chiletrek In reply to gdpr-20773443 [2016-02-21 20:17:46 +0000 UTC]

Hello:
Well, the style of surfaces can make a difference indeed in how much memory and time would take, is different a rock, than shiny metal. Another quite diffciult thing to get right are water surfaces and masses of water, even BSG had some problems with those (see "The Plan").

Totally agreed, that is why I decided to experiment a bit on my own too .
