Description

Rindenspringspinne / Jumping Spider (lat: marpissa muscosa)

Shot with extension tube, and gladly I could put the cam down to balance the lense on a rail where this beautiful beast was enjoying the sunny weather.

I was tempted to make a short video at first, but I felt.. not so well with all the people passing that narrow path below the bridge, where I took much space just standing there pressed against the rails which was there to keep the people safe not to fall in the river / channel which the bike trail is following.

It was funny to watch the spider moving around on it's spot. Any movement she perceived from the far, like a bike coming down the bridge (with cars crossing above us), she took position for to catch all of what's happening with its many eyes. You really can tell that it was pure interest, not like being scared. Like she was enjoying it. Any bicycle crossing was most interesting, and she kept view till the people were gone out of sight.

Aside of that it seemed as if it had absolutely no problem with me jittering with my camera few inches infront of her. Since it was on a spot where I often go for shots of my little friends, I wonder if this is the same spider I shot last year...., naah, guess not. Also I think she was very bored by me. So I talked to her about the weather, with that I got her to watch into the lense, which she wasn't doing at all. However: most of the shots I took beginner'ish, made mistake: I came from the wrong side. Too dark in the shadows while too much light from behind.

Anyhow:

I was just fascinated and enjoyed watching Ms. Spiderette, so very adrette, while she was busy watching movement right and left. I can only imagine her ultra wide field of view, wow. And so attentive, and likeable After an hour I had the impression that my little buddy got tired, maybe too much siesta in the sun, maybe I got to close. Sad for me: since I just placed tube °3 behind the lense and wanted to get closer. So I think I came to close, one or two centimeters was to much into her privacy All in all a very relaxed being for a jumping spider. She then moved slowly into the gap you see behind her. And from then on the evening had arrived, the day was done.

Thanks, little fellow
