“Hey honey, guess what?”“What?” Dan asked flatly, tipping his head slightly to show how unamused he was,
“Up there.” Henry jutted out his chin and looked up, “See that?”
Dan looked up and frowned. Mistletoe.
“When did you put that there?” he asked, disgruntled. Henry just smiled slyly in response and raised an eyebrow,
“Doesn’t matter, does it?” he shrugged, “but it’s above your head - you know what that means~”
Dan took a broad step back and crossed his arms, “Not anymore it’s not.” he announced, almost proudly. Unfortunately this meant Henry took a step forward,
“No, now it’s above me. Same thing though, come on.” he smiled and took Dan’s sleeve in his hand, “If you don’t you’ll be cursed.”
Dan laughed through his nose. He tugged at his sleeve but wasn’t strong enough to pull away. Annoyed, he cast a glance in Henry’s direction and lowered his eyebrows slightly. The look didn’t go unnoticed, thankfully, and his arm was released, so he took the opportunity to flee to the sofa. It was a bad decision.
“Y’know, honey,” Henry grabbed the bundle and pulled it down from the doorway, “the rules apply everywhere.”
He followed Dan to the sofa and quickly pinned him down at the waist, holding the mistletoe in an almost taunting manner above them,
“I’m not letting you get away with it this time~”
“This time?” Dan repeated, confused, “You’ve never let me ‘get away with it’, what are you talking about?”
Henry frowned dramatically, “Bullshit, you’ve stood under this thing with me at least six times today.” he shook the mistletoe to emphasize his point, “and you haven’t even kissed me once.”
“Well, in my defence I didn’t even know it was there.” Dan squirmed back, “Until you pointed it out just now, anyway.” He didn’t get very far, as Henry was quite comfortable sitting across his hips, “Get off me.”
“Gimme a kiss and I’ll think about it.”
“No, just get off me.” Dan hissed, “Fuck’s saaake, I won’t kiss you until you do.” he groaned, trying desperately again to wriggle free,
“I don’t trust you.” Henry pouted, leaning forward slightly, “I’ll get up and you’ll run away.”
“To where? We sleep in the same bed!”
“Yeah, but still.”
“I won’t, alright?” Dan said tiredly, “Just let me sit up at least.”
“..fine.” Henry said reluctantly, shuffling back so Dan could pull up his legs. He sat with one leg hanging off the edge of the seat, waiting for Dan to speak.
Seeing the expectant look, Dan decided instead not to say anything and instead to slowly retreat. He wouldn’t lose so easily. He swung both legs over the edge of the seat and turned his head in Henry’s direction, then edged forward until he was standing and bolted to the furthest chair,
[if he wants to play games with me I’ll play games with him.] he thought, [I’ll keep this going for a while.]
“Hey.” Henry called over, “You said you wouldn’t.” he sounded hurt but his ears perked up, obviously realising the game,
“I never promised.” Dan shrugged, “I’m only here, anyway.” he patted the arm of the chair, “Come get me~” he added in a slightly playful tone.
Henry smiled and pounced onto him, causing the chair to wobble slightly. He had, unfortunately, forgotten to bring the mistletoe with him. Dan smiled slightly and raised an eyebrow,
“Looks like I don’t have to.” he pointed out, “The rules don’t apply if it’s on the floor across the room.”
Henry was quiet for a moment, then returned the smile, “True, but you wouldn’t deny your beautiful fiancé a kiss, would you?” he batted his eyelashes and tilted his head,
“I wouldn’t.” Dan admitted, “But I don’t think I have one of those, so I’m alright.”
Henry groped at his chest in a ‘wounded’ motion and gently bumped their foreheads,
“Handsome, then.”
“Nope.”
“Sexy.”
“Not a chance.”
“Cute..?”
Dan laughed, “Try ‘around average’.”
“Excuse me?” Henry asked in mock disbelief, “I think you mean ‘above average’.”
“Nah.” Dan couldn’t help but smile, “I know what I meant, but I’d never tell you.”
Henry lifted his head and looked at him, confused. Dan pulled it back down for a brief kiss then slid under him and off the chair. He picked up the mistletoe and carefully threw it in Henry’s direction,
“I’ll give you one more chance as I’m so nice.”
Henry blinked, still confused, then picked it up cautiously, “Are we still playing a game, or..?” he asked, standing up and approaching Dan, “Because if we are I get the feeling I’m losing.”
“Don’t worry,” Dan pat him on the shoulder, “That’s nothing new.” he teased, then took Henry’s wrist and guided it up, “But I’ll let you win just this once.”
Henry started to smile then stopped, “Wait, I don’t understand--”
