Description ....... sigh..........
.... Okay. So I just finished Danganronpa V3.

ATTENTION, MAJOR SPOILERS AHEAD.

... Yeah, what a surprise, I actually completely hated the ending.
It was... so weird? It didn't make any sense whatsoever and it... made the whole game meaningless?
Ugh, I'm just so upset about this.
I always loved danganronpa, since the moment I first got to know the first game.
I always enjoyed talking about it, or drawing it, or playing it or... just spending my time with it.
But this game.... it felt like it was shitting over the whole franchise.
It felt.... like a big prank. Like a middle finger.
Don't get me wrong, I really loved the game (still can't beat Danganronpa 2 for me, but still a good one).
It was just..... the ending.
The characters that I've cried about, the characters that I got attached to and that I couldn't get enough of...
and then you're telling me that none of it matters? Well, to me it does. To me, all of them do.
At first, I couldn't really get attached to the game. It felt different and I didn't like most of its characters.
But eventually, I got really fond of the characters. As the game went on with every chapter, I started to get more and more attached to them.
Kaede, Kirumi, Tenko, Gonta, Kaito.
I even really liked Tsumugi, though I had a weird feeling about her from the beginning, but I just shrugged it off since I'm usually NEVER right about that.
I didn't mind so much that she was the mastermind though.
What just destroyed everything... was the whole weird stuff about a fictional world...?
About all of them not having real emotions.
About none of the moments in this game being real for them.
It was all just... scripted by Tsumugi?
Even Maki's feelings for Kaito not being real (after I literally SCREAMED when she finally confessed to him)
And then when Tsumugi pulled out the whole audition thing...
Kaito and Gonta were probably my favorite characters in this game.
... And hearing "the real" Kaito say something like "I'm gonna kill all of them!" absolutely did it for me.
The game was over for me there.
The Kaito that we knew was a warm hearted caring person, reckless, but still a really good-hearted guy.
He would never have said something like that.
At one part I didn't even want to play the rest of the game. I just wanted to cut it there.
I really just played through it in the end to unlock the extras and the free time mode.
... But isn't it kind of meaningless when you think about that these characters... are basically all scripted?
None of what they're saying is real.
It's all fake.
Yes, they are all just fictional anyway, since we're playing a game.
But there is a difference to when you play a fictional game and when you play fictional characters in a fictional world.
So I only have one more thing to say.
Yes, I am one of these people that believe in the theory that the ending was a lie.
That Tsumugi just made this up.
I don't know why she did, but there must be a reason to it.
Shuichi even hinted at it. That maybe, what she said wasn't the actual truth.
He doubted her words. And when the main character, even being the ultimate detective, doubts the villain, then I believe him.
Other than that, there are so many things that just hint to it being a different story, not the one that Tsumugi made up.
We don't want the situations to be real that happened.
But we want the characters to be real.
The characters, to have that personality, that we fell in love with.
That we had fun with.
This is why so many of us are upset about the ending.
Another part, is for example the characters from the other DR games. Are they all just fictional too, like Tsumugi said?
Now, this is something that is easily explainable.
DR V3 plays in a completely new universe.
It's not the same as Danganronpa 1 and 2.
These games are not connected, rather, DR V3's universe, is like a weird copy of the other universe, where just all of these characters are fictional.
In DR 1 and 2 though, they have been real.
I'm pretty certain that I even saw Kodaka themself writing it somewhere. (it was before V3 even came out, i remember how sad I was about it being a new universe, that's why I'm so SURE that I saw it)
But okay, if we can't trust Tsumugi about the V3 cast being fictional, then can we even trust her about the other characters being fictional?
Can we even trust, that her cosplox is real?
Maybe she just made that up as well.
Can we even trust ANYTHING she says?
She was really just a very poorly made fake-Junko.
She didn't even take the rules serious, so why wouldn't she go as far as turning the whole last trial into a big fat lie?
You see, there are many open questions still. But that's just how Danganronpa is, I guess.
Always leaving you confused.
I've read some pretty good theories out there and maybe I just want to believe in them, but maybe they are actually true, since these people really have good reasons to think that Tsumugi was lying.
Either way, to me, Tsumugi was lying. That's what I believe.
Our characters were brainwashed into this and maybe even Tsumugi as well?
I want to grasp onto the belief that this was not the real ending. That there is more to it.
Danganronpa had always been incredibly complex so far and it never was able to disappoint me.
And even now, that I feel so betrayed by the franchise that I have loved with all my heart, I still believe in it.
I still believe that this isn't everything. It almost feels like they WANT us to find the real meaning behind this.
I believe that there is another truth.
Cause that's what this game taught me. That's what Kaito taught me. To believe in what I want to believe in.

There's a person named Kaede in an anime called "non non biyori"
the main characters called her "candy store" (in the subbed version as well) x)

non-sense aside, i like this one.

she runs a candy store, and I guess Kaede sounds like "candy" in some way?ย
