Description FINALLY FINISHED.
About two months of work and I am so glad to be finally done, although I'm not quite happy with it. But this was pretty much my first serious attempt with acrylics and I've still got a lot to learn. Another great thing we did was make our own canvas, which will come in handy in college and such. I changed a lot of things to make it easier for me and help with the flow of the piece. My teacher didn't want it to look just like the picture, which was probably the hardest part for me.
I really love spiders and I think they're beautiful. I plan to use them a lot more in my artwork because they just seem like a perfect subject.
This piece is 18x16, I believe. Acrylics and a ton of time. Used this as my reference. Thank you.

This is amazing! The colors in the spider make it pop out! Even though I don't believe I've ever seen a spider with such a mix of colors, their use really makes it look as if it's going to scurry off this screen and get me. The spider's movement due to the fact that it's coming off of the page a little only heightens its reality! In fact, I could have sworn that its looking at me right now and planning its attack!

Thank you!
I think the colours are reflections from the spider's surroundings. I just tried to emphasize them and make it even more intense. Mostly because my teacher told me to.

This is a really wonderfully detailed work, exhibiting very thoughtful use of color tones, and transmitting a feeling of creepiness that is overall not unpleasant.
