I really like their chemistry together. I like Ash/Misty as well, but Serena/Ash is very sweet and I enjoy their bond!

I fear some people might this the wrong way and assume I don't like this pair.
I do like Amourshipping and it's one of my favorite Pokemon anime pairings, but here is my main issue while yes the series built and I rewatched it on Netflix after I made my comparison to AureliaShipping that it doesn't have that realistic feel to it. Yes, Ash is oblivious like many male anime protagonists over the years like Naruto and deadly Goku (Oh I have a barrel of issues with Goku's obliviousness especially in Super).
Yes has the idea of lost friends and it being slightly one-sided on Serena's side, we have the infamous kiss scene from the end of XY. I feel that they should have some build-up to Serena's appearance like the idea of being Ash's penpal or Delia mentioning having a friend who lived far away. I know it couldn't have happened before XYZ but it is one pet peeve I have the ship in general and it's why I do lean towards AureliaShipping for a realistic point starting out a friend and slowly growing into something, if it wasn't for Ash than Lillie would still be the same scared girl unable to be a Pokemon trainer or even touch a Pokemon. Still the same could be said about Serena, if Ash wasn't there, she would a lost girl doing something aka Rhyhorn RAcing she has no passion for.

Okay, not to mention during the final episode, she rushes to back end of the boat she and her family are on to thank Ash only surprisingly hinting at she might like Ash more than a family. Also he is the reason that her family was united in the end to help look for their missing member of their family aka Mohn

At around the timeΒ XYΒ had recently started, I never expected much out of this pairing.Β I thought they weren't going to do something special between Ash and Serena and that it was just going to be something simple until I saw thatΒ Serena actually knew Ash years before Ash himself could become aΒ PokΓ©mon trainer, something that I was not expecting. Because my OTP was originally PearlShipping, I had to put my favoritism towards that pairing to the side andΒ watch more of the series to see how it all goes down, and I eventually declared AmourShipping as my OTP after watching the full flashback scene andΒ took all the recent events between Ash and Serena that have happened after meeting up with each other again into consideration, although I still like PearlShipping and would definitely consider it a close second favorite of mine.
