Darius again.The stone he wears around his neck has a protection rune on it, but there is no actual enchantment attached to it. His niece (5 at the time) saw the symbol somewhere in a book and when she found out it was to protect people from demons she painted it on the stone and gifted it to her uncle. (He suffers from very bad nightmares). He's worn the stone around his neck ever since.
