The giants are not only known for their immense strength, but for their ability to transform into dragons.But they are not born with it. When they are adult every giant must kill the dragon with ritual sword to get the ability to transform. But not just any dragon. The dragon must match the giant's colours, gender, age and some other characteristics. And sometimes it's very difficult find the appropriate dragon.
This albino giant thought that he will never be able toΒ fly - still, he got lucky. Can't say the same about said dragon and human city.

Well, it's not really language issues - I just didn't really think about that. In my head it was like 'here is the dragon - there are the dragon groups'.
