Whenever I move from one sketchbook to the next I am forced to deal with the stragglers ... drawings that never worked. For me Art block seems to come when I run into the frustrating final stages of a piece. Eventually (if I can't pull out of it)  annoyance outweighs enjoyment and the whole thing falls apart in front of me,so,  I move on.

This is made of those frustrating scraps.
I pulled out my paper cutter and began cutting....
Then...
I reassembled .... and tried to find value.

Interesting to see your coloured work.

Looking at it, I can tell the core of the art is same as your black & white stuff, but it evolves into a totally different beast with the entire thing drowning in colours.

Such beautiful colors. Beautiful everything in it, actually. I'm in awe. <3 What materials did you use?

A little bit of everything. With this one I gutted an old sketchbook and took out everything I started but didn't have the interest or energy to finish.... I then cut those drawings into even sized squares,  and reassembled them trying to find an image. I sealed that layer with clear gloss medium... so the colors really popped.... then I think I drew back into it with black marker and some paint.
Hope this helps

Awesome as i like the colours coming down the piece
I know the feeling as some drawings just create delays
but mistakes and blocks are part of the progress as this is really cool

Those colors are gorgeous! Good luck with the contest, I'm almost certain you will win

Since I'm not going to enter the contest, I will share how mine art block looks like. By definition art block is to not be able to create, but in most cases (I believe) it's because of lack of idea / inspiration to. In my case it's the opposite. My emotions are building so high, that I'm overwhelmed by them, can't focus on any to reach it and try to get rid off by drawing, I'm getting frustrated even more and the only thing I can do is sit down and scream. Eventually I forget all the emotions, clear my head and go back to create, but it can take years to deal with all the emotions (you know, time heal wounds). I had two major art blocks during my lifetime, and right now I feel I'm on my pick of creativity, so hopefully no art block for me any time soon

In addition, I have to say that before my last art block I tend to create a lot, but in most cases not finish any of the sketches. This time, I start and finish, or if not feeling so, just delete the file (while drawing digitally), and start over when I feel the mood for any new one (I don't repeat the idea, since it obviously didn't inspire me enough to finish it)

Thanks, if I win I will be happy but all the entries seem earnest and expressive so if I don't it's ok too....
I know what you mean about overwhelming emotions.... usually that is how I am when I can't sleep..... I have too many thoughts and can't quiet my mind. Eventually I find myself stuck in a thought loop and can't move away from it....

Sometimes with a drawing (not so much now, more when I still had a job job), I would be so excited to have time to dedicate to myself and to art ....  I would get together my paper and my pens...... and play just the right music....
and then I wouldn't draw anything because I had desire but not much else .... and the blank paper seemed precious, so I was hesitant to mark it with anything mundane.
I have to lose the preciousness before anything will flow....
Sometimes I still have a similar problem if I like something I am working on. I start to  fear that I will mess it up so I become hesitant.... and that hesitancy kills the piece more often than not.

Bad job can make us really unhappy, both as persons and artists.

I never liked the white, empty space in front of my nose, so tried to fill it with anything till almost no white space left. With digital medium it's even better, because I'm not afraid doing any mistake, I can always undo

It's nice to see where you cut it.  The repetition of the partition adds to the cohesion of the whole piece.  I usually find it difficult to make a piece look balanced with darks tending toward the top, but you've pulled it off quite nicely

Thanks.
Yeah ... I usually like the darks used as a heavy base myself ... but t just felt right weighted at the top......

Thanks,
The colors were crazy on this .... I used gloss medium to glue everything together and it made the colors pop out like crazy.... I knew it did that, but it was more than I expected.
