I love this mix of digital/traditional. Also, love the colours on the shell! As always, great job!

Amazing details as always.
this one looks more pet-like compared to the previous one which was more natural with all the camouflagesk colors.

Thanks.
I don’t normally work digitally but the drawing became very dark and saturated so I wanted to go back in and try to let the details breathe a little ....
I know what you mean about a pet... this one has this easy going happy vibe.....
and that’s ok this time .... but next time I draw a turtle I think I want to go gnarled and ancient ... or just draw Gamera

Actually what I meant when i wrote pet-like, I was meaning it looked more man-made in like mythical terms which animals were put human interpretation& imagination.
it DOES look ancient like an old artifact from a lost jungle civilization.
guess I made a wrong choice in words huh

nice details, how u do it?

Chobek In reply to Inkhov [2019-03-10 07:21:22 +0000 UTC]

with this one I started with a traditional drawing...  and then scanned it.... from there I digitally drew on top of the image using the Procreate app on my iPad and an apple pen.
I do not work digitally often so honestly I pretty much just redrew everything on top of the scanned image....
it was really time consuming and headache inducing ... but I think If I had know what I was doing digitally.... there might have been a more efficient way to get similar results.

love the transition from cyan to blue ! and that bottom blue line showing (i know , i focus on tiny details, but you do the same so you will understand me haha)

the top looks so lovely, i like how you didn't insist on the patterns in some areas , it opens the designs, lets it breath and gives a lovely transition from lighter to darker areas

Oh yea, i just Love the red dots in the blue area ! You have a lovely way of working digitally , i liked the Turtle before as well but now it's even lovelier !

LOL I like the results ok but man... I think I did it wrong it took me 5X longer to do the digital work than the original pen and marker...

.... it kinda drove me nuts....

..really ? when we talked and you showed me the work you had only the top part done. and one day later you had the whole work posted !

I was actually telling my guy how fast you worked with this and that i wasn't expecting you to post it already

Also, it's normal to move slower with a medium you don't work with very often

i think I just worked on it too many hours straight, withought taking a break.... and the light from the screen was weird for me .... I wasn’t paying attention to how long I was staring at a lit screen... or I would have stopped myself sooner ... I know better when I think of writing e-mail or playing games .... but my OCD kicked in with the patterns, and I didn’t notice my eye strain or headache until they were all ready there and deeply  rooted
but no big deal... if I do this again, I will turn the brightness down and  look away more often.

Ohh... you know what's the biggest issue ? the white background !

I figured when working my black and white digital stuff (this autumn) that i had massive headaches from the white screen so added a pastel color to it each time to help. Is that something you could do without having to save like that? just a filter or smth to use while you work on it that you take out after before you save it?

I usually can sit in front of the pc 24+ and play constantly and i don't get headaches but drawing is way different .. Sorry for the headache

Chobek In reply to Sabz0r [2019-03-10 08:18:33 +0000 UTC]

it’s ok ... just a part of the story of this drawing now
as long as I made it through it I am ok with having a little pain.

I think I might be able to do that (with the background)
also,
with the iPad I had it  4” from my face all the time too.... so If I just pull back a bit, I think it would help too.

How is your new figure work coming?
.... are you working on it with a final image in mind? Or are you using it only for figure study?

Sabz0r In reply to Chobek [2019-03-10 08:22:11 +0000 UTC]

happy you found a good approach ! Next time it will be less annoying

My new figure..well.. i didn't do anything yesterday and apparently i'm having a lazy morning

I wanna give her a pelt bikini and bra but i wanna make sure i don't recycle other people's ideas without even knowing so i will have to search for all the characters wearing pelts to make sure i don't do the same

Chobek In reply to Sabz0r [2019-03-10 08:37:11 +0000 UTC]

There is a difference between a classic look and a rip off... I think you are pretty safe with a pelt bikini
I say it is fully in the camp of archetype ,instead of copy.
(Joe and I just watched Hundra last weekend

this weekend is a Star Trek fest
Not that it has anything to do with Star Trek....
but
I really want to draw a sexy robot .... but it is so far from what I do..... I think I would struggle with it and then it would suck
but I might do it some day anyway.

I love sexy robots.

oh...... separate topic, I have this link saved because it reminded me of one of wills drawings (the border with the demon baby) but I thought I might share it with you as well.... thought you might get a kick out of the octo parts.....

Oh Yiis I see, Hundra

I'd Love to see a sexy robot from you ! And you know the faster you start with it the sooner the design will look as good as you want it! You work so much, allow yourself to give it a few tries if you don't feel confident enough, you seem to really enjoy the concept and i'd like to see your approach

The video is so interesting indeed! the crying baby yes !! haha ! At least he gets a level -up

i like the way it's designed and animated!
