Clair belongs to an ancient clan of dragon tamers, meaning she doesn't fully live in Crystalis City as the Clan was always taught to her to come first. And she's lived her life according to that same mindset and dogma.

Then, enter Nick, and Clair decides things in the city are going to be much more fun than being whisked away to Johto for months at a time. She also opts out of swimming, feeling shy around Nick although that's the polar opposite of her normal personality.
