My first ever render remade!
Here's the beautiful original version:

When I finished it I was pretty proud, but it definitely didn't age well xD With the release of Blender 3.0 and new version of the donut tutorial I decided I would remake the picture.
I gave up on following the actual tutorial because I kept wanting to do things my way. And I like the outcome. I was trying to improve the textures and shaders, but I feel like they could be even better.
I really liked rendering in Blender 3.0. I actually liked the low res painterly denoise image I showed you yesterday and I tried rendering with a super low sample count (like 10!) and denoising to get the same result in render but even at the lowest sample counts the render is really sharp and nice. So I'm pretty impressed (This is rendered with a normal value though)
+ the geometry nodes have improved so much, they're awesome. I already liked them in the previous version but now I din't mind not using particles again! Except.. I'm wondering what they're going to do with grooming. It's the only thing particles are still useful for that I can think of, and the grooming system has only gotten worse since 2.79 in my opinion and experience. I'm curious if they're planning to update it somehow.
