I missed the Tex Avery cartoons. I used to watch them in my younger years.

I like it too. It is similar to Tex Avery's style of comedy in his MGM years.

Say whatever you want about this show, it's still better than anything that Cartoon Network is doing now!

I used to love that show as a kid when it came out on YTV, later Teletoon (Canadian TV channels), but as I got older, it became more annoying. Not worth giving credit to Tex Avery in my honest opinion.

If you see just ONE piece of fanart that is superior than the show itself, you know something is wrong with the show itself.

I've always imagined this show getting some kind of hacked video game of it. From Earthworm Jim for the Sega Genesis! The levels are just simply various cartoons happening! With Andy Asteroids having Tex & Sid race each other! But Not in Space!

Speaking personally, I was always quite fond of this show. It's definitely not on the same level as Tex Avery's classic works (I suspect they only gave it his namesake for the sake of name recognition), but it had some pretty decent humor here and there...and besides I can certainly say I've seen worse.

Nice. Also, the show is named after the cartoonist who worked at Warner Bros. and MGM

I'm with Chopfe on this I don't mind watching this show that much.Ok I'll admit its beyond stupid, completely tarnishes the good name of Tex Avery, and people should instead be watching Tex's old cartoons instead of this, but when ever I need inspiration for ideas I in terms of desperation turn to this as well as other cartoons like Warner Bros and the Animaniacs and see what they do with there own characters.Sure this shows cartoons all have the same plots and character types, but some of the ideas are kinda unique like "Power Pooch" and "Pompeii Pete" but like I said all have the same repeated jokes and set ups, jeez every-time I find praise for this show the bad stuff keeps coming back to haunt us.But whatcha gonna do.Just take it and stride kids. In the mean time if you really need a Tex Avery fix check these out

funny, i used to watch this every morning as a kid. I never knew about the tex avery shorts until i got a bit older.
But yeah, this doesnt hold up too well. Its clear that this was DIC entertainments answer to Animaniacs. What made animaniacs work was that it matched the style of the Warner Bros. to a Tee while giving their characters more of a variety. This show tries way too hard to capture the tex avery style but it ends up being childish. Not to mention every segment follows the same formula: Person A competes with Person B. Its ironic because i love the tex avery gags and they have plenty of them here. But, somehow they sucked the funny out of it.
Overall, i still like your tribute.

For me it was actually the inverse. I knew about Tex Avery (the cartoonist) before this P.O.S. existed. When I first heard about it as a kid, I thought it was a loving tribute to his work. I was a stupid, stupid, STUPID child back then.

I'm fairly familiar with Tex's original work, and though I've heard of this I've never actually seen it. Maybe that's a good thing, though... No complaints here regarding your take on these characters! Your style seems to be a good fit for them.

Well I do say those are some pretty nice character designs that are pretty close to the taste of the post Tex Avery Looney Tunes crew.

I remember seeing this cartoon when I was in Colorado and... honestly, not much else about it. It wasn't really awful, it just didn't make all that much of an impact. I do love the work of the real Tex Avery, though, and I don't know what I'd think about this show if I saw it again.

I never really thought about it before, but it's depressing to realize that there are people out there who grew up associating the name Tex Avery with this dumb cartoon rather than the amazing work the real Tex produced in his lifetime.

of all the shows that came on saturdays and weekday mornings it was an alright show to me. it pretty much left the same impact on me as the cowboys of moo mesa cartoon, whereas it was just something i'd watch if nothing else was on.

Like Tiny toons, I liked it as a kid, but watching it when I was older made me see how many faults there are in this cartoon. There used to be an article online with an animator talking about how the show was originally going to feature Tex's characters(Like Droopy, wolfie, Red, and Screwy Squirrel) and it went under the working title 'Tex and Friends'. DIC couldn't afford the rights to getting the characters so they had to work with somethings that were lying around that were based off of rejected pitches to them from some of the different artists that were working at DIC at the time. Needless to say. I kinda wish Tex and Friends happened instead of this. Its not much of a tribute, nor does it 'feel' like a tribute to Tex Avery(the cartoonist, not the cowboy). It just felt like a very late attempt to cash in on the Spielberg produced cartoons.
I think Billy West may have commented that he disliked voice acting on this show. But the only character I did enjoy from the show was Ms Chasity.

Y U LIKE SHOW, U MUST H8 SHOW BECAUSE INTERNET CRITIC OF DA WEEK SAID SO
In all seriousness, I did sit through a few episodes a while back, and looking back on it, with the exception of Power Pooch, none of them did it for me. It kinda felt like DIC's attempt at trying to ride the Animaniacs cash-cow while bringing some Tex-inspired gags and characters along for the ride. Not as bad as some of their other shows around this time (Super Duper Sumos comes to mind), and I do like how the character designs were all based on lesser-known Tex Avery creations, but to me it's just kind of a failed try to pay "homage" to one of the masters of animated slapstick.
Though the intro does give me a hefty migraine. XP
