~Dragon Ball XV - Part 10: Elery's Resolve~
Despite his shock from before, Semi-Perfect Cell is not fully impressed, having only sensed a raise in Elery's power level and therefore, claiming and believing she would not present much of a challenge. Elery is unfazed however, warning Cell not to underestimate one's resolve, the willpower to fight for what they think is right. Semi-Perfect Cell is still not impressed, believing he is superior to Elery, no matter what transformation she goes through. He soon learns, in the end, he is indeed no match for the Saiyaness...

Meanwhile, Goku and Gohan then learn that Vegeta and Tien have completed their training and are ready to emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Elsewhere, Bulma and baby Trunks meet up with Krillin while flying in her aircraft. Bulma gives Krillin a remote control that is capable of shutting down Android 18 within a 10-meter range. She then flies up to Kami's Lookout.

At the Lookout, Tien and Vegeta emerge from the Hyperbolic Time Chamber after a year of intensive training (one day in real time). It is apparent that both of their powers have increased exponentially, and they have reached a whole new level of strength. Bulma is surprised by one thing though and questions why Vegeta's hair did not grow in length. Agitated, Vegeta informs her that a pure-blooded Saiyan's hair does not grow or change once he or she is fully grown. It was that way with him, with Goku, and with Elery as well. Bulma is never the less disappointed, hoping she could have seen Elery with longer hair, as short hair just didn't suit her too well...
Just before Vegeta and Tien leave Kami's Lookout, Bulma provides everyone with new Saiyan Battle Armor that is identical to Vegeta's. All of them accept the armor, except for Tien, who refuses to dress like Vegeta. Vegeta then prepares to rush off to test his new power against Semi-Perfect Cell, but then senses Elery's power and is stunned. He then learns from Goku and Gohan that Elery herself had also ascended beyond a Super Saiyan, leaving the Saiyan Prince both stunned and impressed. To that end, he feels as though Elery can handle the android for now, but was not going to stand by for too long, as he was eager to test his new strength. Tien quietly leaves, returning to Chiaotzu for the time being and promising Goku and the others he'll be there to assist when the time comes.
After scarfing down a meal prepared by Mr. Popo, Goku and Gohan enter the Hyperbolic Time Chamber with a clear mission: to make Gohan a Super Saiyan and to ascend to a level even greater than that of a Super Saiyan, just as Elery has done. Gohan is surprised by the vast open space and gravity (10x the gravity of Earth) of the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Goku instructs him to stay close at all times so that he does not get lost in the infinite space. Goku then tells him that he is a stricter teacher than Piccolo and that it is important for Gohan to become even stronger than Goku is. Gohan, though slightly overwhelmed and doubtful that he can obtain a power greater than his father's, is eager to begin training.

Back with Super Saiyan 2 Elery and Semi-Perfect Cell, the battle begins with the newly ascended Elery commanding complete control of the upper hand. Whatever attacks Semi-Perfect Cell throws at her, Elery counters them all, dominating in both strength and speed. Piccolo soon arrives on the scene, nodding having sensed his student's power and was merely going to stand back and watch, having faith in his student. Elery nods as she continues to dominate the battle, proving her superior to Semi-Perfect Cell, rather then the other way around.

While Elery battles Semi-Perfect Cell, Krillin arrives on the island with the remote control that Bulma gave him and soon locates the Androids. Even though he knows the importance of carrying out his mission to destroy Android 18, he hides behind a mountain, conflicted. Ever since Android 18 kissed Krillin on the mountainside road, he has developed strong feelings of affection for her and struggles internally against causing her any harm. Much to Android 18's surprise, Krillin smashes the remote.

As Piccolo watches Elery battle Semi-Perfect Cell, he soon realizes that his student is toying with the android, that she had the strength to defeat him long ago. Though he's slightly worried this decision may come back to haunt her later, he does not lose any sort of faith in Elery, believing she knows what she's doing. In the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, Gohan's chances of becoming Super Saiyan looks bleak. Goku then informs him that the transformation to Super Saiyan comes in response to a need, not a desire.

Just as it seemed Elery was about defeat Semi-Perfect Cell however-
She suddenly stops short, much to Piccolo's slight surprise...
