I could hardly resist spouting out a few lines of this character's tale!
He can tell from afar...but he pushes aside the shocking, numbing truth. Once the base of his city, his home, is in view, he drops his bags and picks up his pace. He stops, barely breathless, as his eyes shiver and twitch in an attempt to encompass the entire crushing view.
'All gone.' His mind tells him. It is as if he is in a dream. 'All gone.' And in a moment he'll wake up. The sun will be shining once again. He'll feel warm. He'll hear laughter. He'll open his eyes from a deep terrible sleep and find life.
But no. As he steps one foot closer...it is as if a large hand clamps into a fist around his chest; the hand of cold and relentless truth. 'All gone.'
He murmurs, not knowing what he says. "Where are the lights? Where are the flowers? The colors...all gone. Where are the children? Where....where?"
'All gone.' Dead days after he left on his quests, he sees, as the fires of battle have gone out. 'All gone.'
He looks upon the death-ravaged city and says aloud..."All gone." As if...as if it is all a story, and its last line has just been told. He takes an even breath and slowly makes his way down the invisible path towards his city. "All gone." He mutters in grief disguised as nonchalant annoyance.

maybe you can do a separate blog with those, that might be interesting. Write up some short stories, i wouldn´t mind if you reused my images for that.

I recently did that cube desert ladder horse psychology/personality test and this is similar to what I thought up. Except the castle was a huge cube.
