Description just cropped the photo and lightened it a tiny bit ... the tornado was moving at about 400-450 knots and did a running break at leuchars airbase, near St Andrews golf course, Scotland. I didn't think i had captured the shot, but i was wrong

comments please

I believe it's an Tornado F.3 111 Sqn

love the shot! but - a question, if you dont mind... where exactly did u take it form? im a student in dundee, and keep meaning to go visit leuchars to get some shots and never make it... although the base is now closing for a few months, then eurofighter comes!!! woohoo! lol

I took these from an emergency entrance, it's along the main road to leuchars, so you can see St Andrews Golf Course if you look along the runway.i don't know the road name, but it's sort of as you go into the housing area... theres' normally people there!

Noise is always a good thing. In the event your ordnance fails you can still scare the buggers to death.

Alas, I'm 2 inches too tall to squeeze into a tornado, looks like JSF or rotary for me

Awesome shot mate.

dude 2 inches, that HAS to suck! i would cry

petethetwig In reply to chrisdonaldwsm [2006-01-27 20:56:31 +0000 UTC]

The main issue would be ejecting. I'd lose my knees on the console, which sucks a tad.

I blame the same people who design all public transport vehicles in the UK. If we've learned one thing by using buses, it's that jockeys shouldn't design seats for real people. lol

Great gallery by the way

I don't mind noise, to be honest.. but imagine how much fuel is wasted making noise when it could be used to move the jet?

chrisdonaldwsm In reply to antooine [2006-01-07 10:36:11 +0000 UTC]

true, true, but you NEED noise because of combustion

antooine In reply to chrisdonaldwsm [2006-01-07 11:03:09 +0000 UTC]

Noise can be contained, mostly

I wouldn't say the speed or piolts :-p. I've never even seen one of these things in flight!! (They dont have many of those in the US :-p. Even fewer next to a large F-16 base lol)

flight261 [2005-12-26 13:43:16 +0000 UTC]

wings swept back, must have been going at a hell of a speed, and you must have broken you neck to get it at that angle

infact why was it flying over you?

if you really want to improve it, on a blue sky day, with the odd cloud, just put the sky into photo shop with the multiply effect and it adds alot more colour, not sure if it would work here though.

also then it is modefication.

great shot as is though

we were up at leuchars, and this particular plane had been flying throught the loch we were staying on.. and decided he would do a running break down the runway.. so he did .. and luckily i got this ..

i know what you mean about the sky, its' quite a pain to getit right..

thanks for the fave
