Description Needed a change from just plain landscape paintings. This idea popped into my mind last night. Pretty happy with how it turned out.

Let me know what you think.

Thanks a lot. This is kind of a V.2 of the pic. The first one didn't have very good lighting so I worked on it a bit more and this is the result.

The anatomy of the figures, the relation between the foreground middleground and background(they seem flat altogether), the colorscheme(too dark and almost monochromatic), you have to have somesort of lightsource even if it is very mild, that way we can discern the volumes of the figures, because of the lack of a proper lightsource they have no form.If you notice they could have just been black sillouettes(and that is how the eye instantly percieves them), you could just remove the greyish lines and it would have the same effect. The composition has potential, just a few tweaks so that the eye doesn't spread out so much across the canvas and focuses on the points you want(the wolves and the soldier).
Here are a few websites that are must-reads to understand these principles:

ctrlpaint itself is a excelent source! Check the videos pertaining to what i pointed out.
[link] (a thread that is a very good read on several issues)

Threads on conceptart.org are a must see too, just search through the cluncky forums.
Hope I have been of some help and that I haven't come about harsh or rude xD.
Merry Christmas!

It's improved a bit, but you can only really get futher in your works if you render the figures and the environment themselves, because that is what makes a painting.
Do alot of sketches and studies daily and then when you improve in the basics you can begin to tackle far bigger works.
That is what worked for me and keeps working, work alot of sketches/studies daily and every week tackle one work with a bigger scale.

Certainly not what you expect based on the title. I like the juxtaposition. Nicely done.
