Description
"Tsagra" is the Byzantine term for the corssbow, and "tsagrator" is the crossbowman in medieval Greek. Greeks who were in contact with western European armies (Venetians or Genovese) used latin style armor and not only scale cuirrasses (as the Byzantine iconogrhaphy depicts them usually). This type of armor (torso protection minus leg defences) also used from Byzantines and latins in the Ottoman siefe of Istanbul (1453 AD)...Commissioned artwork (2009)
