I find it so odd how a Geodude with a human-ish face evolves into something with a more monster-like face. Eh, it's Pokemon. What's to question?

Anyway, nice job!

They did that with all the Gen 1 trade evolutions, e.g.

Geodude & Graveler (Made of Rock, Flat face) -> Golem (Made of Clay, Rock shell, Snout)

Ghastly & Haunter (Made of Gas, White Eyes) -> Gengar (Solid Form, Red Eyes)

Abra & Kadabra (tails, hunched appearance) -> Alakazam (no tail, humanoid appearance)

Machop & Machoke (Snout) -> Machamp (human face)

So far the only exception I've seen is Poliwhirl.

Abra's final form isn't that awkward for me. But Geodude's final evolution is by far the most strangest in my opinion.

Not to mention Golem isn't such a creative name.

Balrock would probably fit better

Indeed.

That's the first Pokemon I know to use an actual real word for a name. Every other Pokemon's names are just combinations and puns.

And then there's the Japanese names for Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres (Freezer, Thunder, and Fire).

Mr. Mime doesn't seem such a creative name either.

I know.

Really, I'm talking about the English names.

Okay.

And apparently Porygon's name is a combination of Polygon and Origami.

Hitmonchan's and Hitmonlee's names make sense when you consider their names being references to Jackie Chan and Bruce Lee.

And Oshawott's name is one of the most difficult to figure out.

Wash and otter.

I think Oshawott's name is a misspelling of Wash + Otter...
