Them walked in the Garden. One of Them angels asked, "What is that tree?" "It is the tree of Knowledge", Them replied.
And the angel desired Knowledge, and took some of it for himself. And he knew Good and Evil, and Order and Chaos.
He especially liked Chaos, because it could be Good and Evil, and bring about Change.
Them was very displeased by his behavior. "Why did you want Knowledge?" "To be similar to You", he replied.
And Them punished him for his pride and ambition, and said "Since you liked Chaos so much, you will be"
And ever since that day, the fallen angel is known as the Great Serpent, the Trickster, the Lord of Chaos.

I admit that in my mind Discord (before the Reformation), has all the makings of being the Tempter.
I thought that before he could tempt anyone else, he'd tried the temptation on himself.
Making the connection with a fallen angel wasn't difficult.
In the drawing, he is still taking the 'form of Chaos', but he is already trying to trick (or tempt) someone else.
