It would make more sense if the smaller one was a juvenile. This kind of massive size difference doesn't seem very practical with an animal this large.

How would they even know how there is sexual dimorphism. Especially on this sort of scale

Jacanas, kiwis, cassowaries and many birds of prey have larger females (but not as exaggerated as this). It's perfectly possible that some theropod dinosaurs had females that were larger than the males.

As you said females beeing larger in birds isn't a rarity. Whats weird about the cassowary in particular though is that the female isn't only larger, but she also has a much bigger crest and brighter coloration and yet the male is still the one that displays during courtship. The male waves his shitty little crest around while the female does absolutely nothing with her massive crest. The male doesn't seem to care about her crest either, it's just there.

Female cassowaries are also complete deadbeats and leaves the the duties of child-rearing sorely to the male. Jacanas do the same thing.

I know lots of animals are like that
Its just how much more exaggerated it is on this pic that gets me. I can't find anything about Anzu having sexual dimorphism

You'd be surprised. Ever seen the size difference between male and female elephant seals?

But seals don't have legs. Have you ever seen a really tall dog try to mate with a very small dog?

Not really. I've seen the other way around, but not big one on small one.

The big dog just humps the air, and I'm sure that's what would happen if these two tried to mate.

Sex is probably very awkward for these creatures. The male would likely have to be very careful not to smush her or something.

I love the outrageous differences between the males and females. It'll make them seem like completely different animals in terms of gameplay! Also, I can't wait to mess around with that lyrebird-like mimicking. Very interesting and intelligent speculation.

Makes sence the male anzu looks a lot more attractive then the female, probably based off modern birds like the peacock!

(To be fair, though, "oviraptorid" is also overly specific, and in this case, it is wrong...
